Geology

The deposit lies within Keno Hill Silver district north-western block Selwyn Basin. underlain Upper Proterozoic Mississippian rocks northern Cordilleran continental margin formation.

sedimentary rocks metamorphosed middle Cretaceous period greenschist facies assemblages dominate local geology deposit. lower schist includes graphitic calcareous sericitic schists Devonian Mississippian period quartzite minor greenstone Middle Triassic era. lower contact intruded Tombstone Thrust fault.

The 700m-thick central quartzite Mississippian includes quartzite trace amounts schist phyllite greenstone horizons. Cambrian-aged quartz-mica schist quartzite graphitic schist minor limestone upper schists. upper schist separated Central quartzite Robert Service thrust fault. units particularly lower upper schists intruded quartz-feldspar porphyritic sills.

The deposit associated sets faults. Tombstone Thrust fault-related foliation parallel structure dips southwards oldest fault within deposit. northeast east-northeast steeply plunging faults offset sinistrally extent 150m. third fault includes transverse faults a? north-west strike steep dip. faults mostly barren filled quartz trace amounts arsenopyrite pyrite jamesonite.

Mineralisation

The deposit contains polymetallic silver zinc vein-type mineralisation. Silver zinc minerals largely accumulated within structured rocks including Central quartzite. Gangue minerals within deposit include trace amounts calcite manganiferous siderite quartz. Silver within argentiferous galena argentiferous tetrahedrite. Within supergene assemblages silver occurs native polybasite pyrargyrite stephanite. hosted galena iron rich sphalerite hosts zinc. Minor pyrite chalcopyrite arsenopyrite sulphides within deposit.
